Mei Heong Yuen Dessert

Met blum & joel a while back on a saturday night, and we decided to head to Mei Heong Yuen for chinese desserts :-)

It was really really packed but the place is pretty huge so the waiting time was short :)
as you can probably see, they have a whole range of shaved ice flavours to choose from, as well as traditional chinese desserts. Blum said their peanut/black sesame/walnut pastes were really good, and true enough they were already sold out!

So we settled for the mango pomelo sago which was good (although slightly pricey i feel!) and nothing out of the ordinary.

The barley with beancurd skin and ginkgo is usually my fave, but the one we had here was quite disappointing, with minimal barley and ingredients. the sweet soup was also pretty watered down. Definitely have had better ones elsewhere (and at cheaper prices!) hopefully the popularity of the place isn't causing the quality to diminish!

Had the TangYuan to share as well. :-)

For me, this was the best dessert of the night- Chendol Shaved Ice! Came with a bottle of Gula Melaka that we could douse on as freely (and lavishly) as we pleased :)

Joel in action!
This was really really good, and tasted very much like Chendol- but even better as the shaved ice was coconut milk flavoured! Came with generous servings of atapchee, red bean, and jelly. :)
Give it a shot if you like Chendol! :)
